Pickerel/Walleye Enhancement Program
The summer of 1983 marked the release of the first pickerel fingerlings raised from the Fish Hatchery by Residents and Volunteers through the Loring Restoule Vacationland’s enhancement program at the time. The successful program is a continuing project specifically designed to improve walleye fishing in area waters, including the Pickerel River and Caribou Lake water system. Long recognized as one of Ontario’s finest walleye areas, we are now assured of future fish stocks and years of successful angling. The hatchery has an ongoing openhouse during the spring spawning period at 93 Brown Drive, 3 km west of Loring.
